Tarangire is less well known than other parks in the northern circuit but in terms of wildlife concentration it supports a similar range of large mammals to the Serengeti. And like Serengeti, Tarangire is part of a wider ecosystem with a great deal of migratory movement.

Tarangire however is more densely vegetated, covered mostly in acacia and mixed woodland. This sometimes makes it difficult to see the full range of predators the park boasts of. During the wet season most of its animals disperse into the Maasai Steppe while the larger antelopes and Zebra move northwest to the rift valley floor between Lakes Natron and Manyara.

Tarangire is also rich in birdlife and upto 500 different species have been recorded. These include Raptors like Bateleur Eagle, Fish Eagle and Palmnut

Day 1: 12:00 Lunch at Impala Hotel in Arusha
14:00 Continue to Tarangire for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: 08:00 After breakfast morning game drive in Tarangire National Park
During the dry season, Tarangire is spectacular in its concentration of wildlife. Many of the migratory species come back to permanent waters of the Tarangire River, from which the park derives its name. Large herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, eland and oryx gather until the beginning of the rains when they migrate to other areas for grazing.
12:00 Lunch at Lodge. PM drive back to Arusha.
