Iringa is an important administrative center lying at an elevation of approx 1,500m on a plateau above a steep escarpment north of the Tanzam highway. It is home to the Hehe people. The Hehe provided the strongest resistance to German rule compared to all the other tribes. The town is characterized with old German and Asian buildings. Iringa will provide an interesting stop in your journey between Dar es Salaam and Mbeya. The town offers great views over the Ruaha Valley.
